Volunteering at Make, Do and Mend
Make, Do and Mend offers a variety of volunteering opportunities, which allow you to help our organisation and those who suffer with mental health distress, improve your skills, gain a reference for future employment and meet new people. Volunteers are at the heart of our organisation, so you can expect to be treated fairly and always be listened to.
All you have to do is meet us for an informal chat to clarify the tasks you are best suited to and we provide all necessary training and work towards volunteering best practice.
When volunteer roles involve significant contact with our members, we ensure everyone’s safety by requiring an enhanced DBS check. There is also no lone working and comprehensive supervision.
Without the commitment, energy and creativity of our volunteers, Make, Do and Mend would be unable to run all of its workshops and events throughout the year.
“When I started volunteering at MDAM, I had recently come out hospital after a mental health crisis and wanted to build structure into my life and move towards getting back into training and eventually back into employment. Without Make, Do and Mend, I’d never have the confidence or motivation I have now. It has been a positive aspect of my recovery from mental health issues and a great chance for me to try and give back and move on with my life.”
