Socials
We run a variety of creative Socials that are demand-led by our members and facilitated by volunteers. Each Social is designed with the environment in mind. We are aiming for sustainable, low-cost, empowering Socials where everyone contributes and works together to achieve joint aims.
We offer the Socials online, meeting up on Zoom from the comfort of your own home, and face-to-face, generally meeting at Castle Street Methodist Church Hall and Whitehill Allotments in Cambridge.
Please see our monthly calendar on our homepage. Here you can find out which Socials are online or face-to-face and days and times that they are running.
Everybody has strengths and something they are good at and we believe that by sharing those talents and interests with others we can help build better communities and strengthen social networks for people who have experience of mental health distress. We want to hold Socials which nurture self-esteem and build confidence using a strengths-based approach. By focussing on what people can do and providing opportunities to master new skills in a relaxed and supportive environment, we hope we can tempt you to come along and get involved.
If there is something you would like to try that we are not currently doing, please do get in touch and share your ideas with us. It may be that we have someone with the skills to help.
‘’Before Make, Do and Mend, I was just stuck at home doing nothing except watching TV. MDAM has allowed me an opportunity to socialise, increased my confidence and given me somewhere to go and learn new skills. MDAM got me out into the open and encouraged me to engage with other human beings! It gave me structure in my day and a way to meet people. It has given me confidence to walk out the front door and a new reason to get up in the morning.’’
