Events

Alongside our weekly activities, Make, Do & Mend frequently participates in local events to celebrate members’ creative skills, raise awareness of what we do and encourage members to get out and become more involved in the local community.

We have had art trips to the Fitzwilliam Museum, Kettle’s Yard and Cambridge University Botanic Garden. enjoyed a day at the seaside in Hunstanton Credits and hosted stalls at Mill Road Winter Fair, Strawberry Fair, Stourbridge Fair and the Volunteer for Cambridge event, among others. We love to meet new people so please come and say hello the next time you see us out and about.

In 2024, we were invited by the Botanic Garden to take part in an art project entitled ‘The Evolution of Plants’. This was a wonderful opportunity for people not only to learn about the fascinating story of plants, but also to create unique pieces of art brought together in one long frieze in the education room at the garden. Last year, some of our members participated in another project ‘Dyes from Plants’ where they learned about the history of plant extracted dyes and how different colours are created.
